The main purpose of this website is to introduce the essays that will be published in the book entitled “Mechanisms of Citizen Participation: A Global Experience”, edited by the Electoral Institute of the State of Queretaro with contributions of authors from over 25 countries around the world.

The main theme of the publication is the different direct democracy mechanisms that have been carried out in the contributing countries, as described by the authors, which include electoral system leaders, magistrates and former magistrates from different electoral systems, judges with electoral authority, former presidential candidates, ministers, ambassadors and consuls, researchers and academics specialized in this subject, among others.

Furthermore, some of the contributors hold a managerial position in some international bodies, which provide an overview of the aforementioned mechanisms in a region or a continent.

The purpose of this publication is to spread successful work and experiences that have been carried out in different latitudes. First and foremost to generate collective knowledge that contributes to a better execution and understanding of the mechanisms that use citizen participation but also to document the relevant events that have taken place nowadays.
